Between Owode and Oja Akesan : Of the Gateway and the Castle

How would I have forgotten that Owode is the seat of glam, with her financial towers, painting rainbows to so-journers and Oja Akesan the market antique that fames across borders? How would I have forgotten that Owode like a wide palm spreads her road to accommodate all, offering them a taste of every other cities and Oja Akesan the market that raises Alaafin's flag? How would I have forgotten that Owode is a thorough-fare with a passing story of glitters and Oja Akesan holds her history? How would I have forgotten that like a maiden, Owode is a mere make-up and Oja Akesan is the real face? How would I not forget my respect for Owode when I have to pay my homage at Oja Akesan, the great market that houses the palace of the Alaafin? Why would we even compare a gateway to the castle?  ---toonday 21-11-2017

I Write for You

I write for those who have the courage to leave when the love turns sour and the peace to be civil through-out all lingering ties.  I write for those that re-present their sagging glands and dust off the taint like a goat from ashes  to scour the world for another respite.  I write for those who have experienced marital bitterness that can't be related but swallowed.  I write for those who never experience orgasming yell but torture from their warped love. I write for those whose culture has tied them to traumas and consistent unhappiness because they couldn't live beyond the text of 'Maa f'ori ti' I write for that wo/men at a combustible  point about to pick a knife and end it all.  I write for you a word I heard: "God hates divorce but not the divorcee." ‎"While a single can make heaven: a bad marriage can make you hell" I write for  you peace, love, and happiness. We all deserve it.  ---toonday. 20-11-2017

EPL Watch 12th week

#ARSTOT The most anticipated London derby: Weary of the 11th week loss against the smoky Man City, Gunners and fans were in pre-match 'sutana' praying fervently for victory and feverishly afeared of untoward results against a  London rival who earned their champion league position last season. Wenger fielded all his artilleries and Spur fell. Spur Sanchez could not stop super  Sanchez from scoring. Ramsey marauding as usual. Ozil's assist. Mustafi's got a goal. Cech saved the day. A fortunate 2-nil victory with a convincing performance. #TakeHome: Last week failure shouldn't affect today's performance. Rather than making you jittery it should be a determination for redress.   #LEIMCI Humble Guardiola had played down the invincibility of the Citizen but they tore resilient Leicester apart. It was almost a punch for a punch until Guardiola's trademark 'tiki-taka' rended Leicester's defence apart. De Bruyne's rocket shot was asto

'The Way You Dress is the Way You will be Addressed'

Basically, this truism refers to people meeting for the first time. Human minds try at first acquaintance to situate friends to a particular stratum in their perceived society through apparel, speech, gaiety, smell and other noticeable features before further familiarity will unravel those assumptions wrong or right.  But really, does a 'gallas' hair-cut make the person a 'yahoo-boy'? Does wearing 'jalamia' with beard make some one holy? Infidelity is not in mini-skirts and fidelity may not necessarily reside in macro either,  but the errant and frequent visitation to the temple they guide. Thus, when those assumptions are wrong, we say "appearance can be misleading" whereas (in fact) it's our prejudiced mind that is myopic in judging. At a time we are accidentally right, another truism comes to mind: your speech not only appearance is your acute advert or portent disservice. Anyway, for a person that understands that life is a service,

THE WENGER IN OLUBADAN AND THE AJUMOBI IN ALL OF US

Contrary to what the lengthy title suggests, this won't be a long epistle neither will it be an in-depth analysis. It won't hurl insults neither will it be political. This is so because the writer is a simple teacher that won't write authoritatively on issues he knows little about. But as learners of life, can't we all learn from the impasse and the little we know of? Is there any alikeness between Wenger and  Olubadan? Not really as Wenger heads an institution where he can be sacked any time while Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, heads a cultural normative institution, a big monarch of the biggest city in West Africa.  Wenger has failed Arsenal in a way ( even if the boards and players have their contributions too) but Olubadan is a successful monarch over a peaceful yet populated city. As spectators of history, where are the lessons from the current development in the city? Where has Wenger faltered and started fumbling?  The urgent moral of this anecdote is tha
